Green Week 2026 at University of Birmingham 💚✨

We were invited into the Business School to deliver workshops focused on Textiles, People & Planet 🌍♻️👖

Across two sessions, staff and students learnt how to:
🪡 fix broken hems & shorten garments
🧵 try darning & repair delicate fabrics like lace
♻️ create patches to upcycle and transform clothes
🌸 learn simple embroidery techniques

So much creativity & fun ✨🪡

Yesterday we had the joy of running a patch-making workshop as part of @veoliauk’s ‘Warm Welcome Spaces’ in Birmingham, and what a lovely session it was 💛

From buttons and scraps to stories and stitches, children and families transformed preloved fabrics into beautiful, meaningful patches. Simple hand-sewing skills, (many picking up a needle and thread for the first time) and lots of creativity! ♻️🌱

These sessions are about slowing down, feeling welcome, and creating together in a warm, supportive space. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who joined us, stitched with us, and shared the space 💕

Last year at @wolverhamptonartscentre, families stepped back in time for ‘Our Freedom Then and Now’ event 🕊️

With wartime music, dancing, exploring history through VR and artefacts from 80 years ago, the past came to life.
Among it all, we explored the powerful wartime idea of Make Do & Mend 🧵✂️🪡

When clothes were precious, people repaired, reused, and wasted nothing.

Through our workshop, children and families used old fabrics to create new patches, turning something unwanted into something special.✨

Today, we call this upcycling ♻️ Eighty years on, the Make Do & Mend spirit still matters.🤩

Our first year of impact 💚

In 2025, Reinvntd brought people together through sustainable fashion, creativity and community. From workshops and repair cafés to talks, lectures and swap shops, this year has been about learning, sharing skills and keeping clothes in use for longer.

The stats:

🧵 30 workshops in upcycling, sewing & creative reuse
🎓 13 talks & lectures in schools, colleges & universities
♻️ 300+ garments saved from landfill
🤝 117 volunteer hours supporting our community

Beyond the numbers, we saw confidence grow, connections form & money saved through swapping, upcycling and people leaving with skills they plan to use again.

“In the morning, students took on an upcycling challenge. It’s great to hear schools integrating hands-on sustainability into education. 🤩

As I always say, every single day, we all wake up and put on clothes. You don’t have to be “in fashion” or care about “trends” to be concerned about how our everyday clothing choices impact people and the planet. 🌍♻️

I spoke about the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion and encouraged students to make more informed and sustainable clothing choices.💡👕

A huge thank you to SWB Academy for inviting us in and welcoming us into such an important sustainability conversation. I definitely went away feeling encouraged by the students’ creativity, curiosity and willingness to rethink the future of fashion.”

Four days of back to back workshops/events, exhausted but forever grateful this is what we call work! Content backlog but for now, but this is what we’ve been busy doing away from socials 🤩

1. Saturday - selling our own handmade festive stockings upcycled from pre-loved Indian sarees at the Wild Earth Movement, monthly Eco Market. Soon available to buy online 🛍️

2. Sunday - x2 community sewing / patchwork workshops with Wolverhampton Arts Centre, bringing history to life for its ‘Wolverhampton in the Second World War’ event 🧵

3. Monday - Delivered a presentation on fast fashion / sustainable fashion to x200, year 8 students. Lots of questions were asked 👩🏽‍🏫

4. Tuesday - Hosted our first, weekly, community sewing group with Cup of Joy. This sewing group is for all sewing abilities - novice & pro both welcome! It aims to be a safe, warm, welcoming space for absolutely anyone wanting to get creative, speak to someone, make new friends, or come with friends, get out of the house, or just have a hot drink. It’s all free.
Every Tuesday 10am-1pm.

🌍 Circular fashion in action 👗

It’s been two weeks since Sustain Midlands sustainability UNconference, and we’re still buzzing from all the creativity, collaboration, and conversation that filled the day. ✨♻️

As part of this year’s UnConference, Reinvntd CIC were invited to host a Clothes Swap Shop, and the results were amazing!
🛍 48 items were swapped or purchased, giving pre-loved clothes a new life. 🧥 43 items were donated.

That’s over 90 garments diverted from potential waste and recirculated back into use! ♻️

It’s incredible how something as simple as swapping clothes can spark big conversations about circular fashion, behavioural change, and how sustainability can be social, stylish, and accessible to everyone.

We loved seeing people light up as they found new pieces and shared the stories behind the ones they donated. It reminded me of why Reinvntd was started in the first place - to make sustainability feel simple and inclusive to all. 💚

Huge thanks to the organisers and @ucbofficial for creating such an inspiring and collaborative space. To the students from @solihullcollege who volunteered with us for the day, you are a credit to your college and brought such fantastic energy and initiative to the swap shop!

A big shoutout to @changekitchen for keeping everyone nourished with delicious, climate-friendly food - we’re still thinking about that baked gnocchi! 🍝😋

And to everyone who swapped, donated, and chatted with us throughout the day, together we proved that change doesn’t have to be complicated, it can start with something as simple as swapping a shirt and leaving inspired. 🌱

We were invited by @move.midlands and @milkteafilms to the @mockingbirdcinema for a special community screening of Can I Get a Witness, a powerful story exploring climate change through the bond between a mother and daughter.

Ahead of the screening, @Reinvntd_official hosted a creative sustainability workshop, where participants used stencils inspired by the film to print onto fabrics made from scraps of donated clothing. 🪷🍃 These prints can be transformed into patches to upcycle and repurpose garments, giving new life to materials that might otherwise go to waste. ♻️

One line from the film really stayed with me: “What are you willing to do for the greater good?”
From a sustainable fashion perspective, it’s a powerful reminder to reflect on how our choices, from the clothes we wear to the way we create, can contribute to collective change. 🌍✨
