In a world rushing forward, take a pause.

Let needle and thread guide your thoughts, as fabric whispers stories of old,

and every stitch marks a moment of care.

Hands holding a hoop with blue fabric featuring white geometric stitching. Surrounding blue textiles and yarn create a cozy, artistic setting.

Join us on Thursday, 31st July 2025 at Wolverhampton Art Gallery, for a soul-soothing workshop of stitches and stories.

Discover the ancient beauty of Sashiko, a Japanese art form born of mending, transformed into meditation.

Text on a dark, stitched fabric background reads: At Reinvntd, we believe: Every scrap of fabric holds memory. Every thread links the past to the present. Every hand that creates, heals.

What Awaits You?

  • Trace the quiet rhythm of Sashiko-inspired patterns to create your own Sashiko bookmark.

  • Learn gentle techniques passed down through generations.

  • Craft a bookmark stitched with thought, colour, and calm.

  • Transform reclaimed fabrics into treasures anew.

  • Feel the stillness, share the silence, and stitch your voice into cloth.

A Stitch of Heritage: What is Sashiko?

Sashiko (sash-ko) is more than thread and fabric, it’s philosophy made visible.

Originating in Japan centuries ago, it was a humble method to patch and preserve.

But over time it grew, becoming a meditative dance of dots and lines, a visual poem of endurance, repair, and quiet resilience.

Hands in a blue kimono folding patterned indigo fabrics on a woven mat. Geometric and wave designs in various shades of blue.

  • Upcycled Beauty – Give forgotten fabric a second life

  • Personal Keepsake – Leave with a piece of art made by you, for you
