A few weeks ago, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Smart Works Birmingham, a charity doing truly inspiring work to empower women back into employment.

Smart Works offers coaching, interview preparation, confidence-building sessions, and even provides free clothing to unemployed women to help them feel job-ready. It’s a holistic approach that uplifts women at a crucial moment in their journey, and we were honoured to witness it firsthand.

During our visit, we toured their beautiful, welcoming space (yes, we had to browse the amazing rails of clothing!). Many of the garments were brand new, donated by retailers, saving thousands of items from potentially ending up in landfill, while giving them a new life with someone who needs it most.

Unfortunately, not all donated pieces that were received to Smart Works, were suitable for interviews. So when the Smart Works team asked if Reinvntd CIC could make use of these items, we jumped at the chance!
These donated garments will either be repurposed and used in our sustainable fashion workshops, or go on to support local community initiatives. It’s a perfect example of how collaboration can spark creativity, reduce waste, and create social impact.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Smart Works for welcoming us—and for inviting Reinvntd to be part of this amazing sustainability journey.
