Have you ever bought something because it was marketed as “sustainable” or “recycled”, only to later realise the reality was a little different? 😫

Only last month did I learn that recycled polyester is primarily made from discarded PET plastic bottles! 😱

Sustainability language is everywhere, but understanding what it actually means can be so confusing.

Hopefully increased scrutiny of fashion ads like this will encourage greater transparency and help drive meaningful change across the industry.

Or is your child a student in year 9 or 10 in Wolverhampton? If so, we’ve got an incredible opportunity for you! 👀

We’ve recently secured funding through charity @savechildrenuk, to deliver Wolverhampton’s very first Youth Sustainable Fashion Show in the heart of the city centre. We’re in the process of selecting up-to 6 secondary schools to take part. 💚

Each school will receive:
♻️ 1 presentation / assembly-style session exploring fashion and textile waste, climate change and sustainability.
🧵students will get 4 hours of practical workshop sessions and learn how to upcycle pre-loved clothes into new garments, fit for a catwalk runway!
👕All materials and workshop facilitation is FREE of charge to schools.

Students will also get the opportunity to model their garments down the runway in the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton, which will be transformed into a fashion catwalk for one special day on Saturday 10th October 📅

We want schools to get involved, not only to put Wolverhampton on the map for leading the way in sustainable fashion education for our youth in the region, but this project also links directly to Art & Design, PSHE, AND supports a variety of Ofsted priorities including personal development, careers and enrichment with prizes including opportunities for work experience within fashion. 🌍✨

Yesterday we had the joy of running a patch-making workshop as part of @veoliauk’s ‘Warm Welcome Spaces’ in Birmingham, and what a lovely session it was 💛

From buttons and scraps to stories and stitches, children and families transformed preloved fabrics into beautiful, meaningful patches. Simple hand-sewing skills, (many picking up a needle and thread for the first time) and lots of creativity! ♻️🌱

These sessions are about slowing down, feeling welcome, and creating together in a warm, supportive space. 🥰

Thank you to everyone who joined us, stitched with us, and shared the space 💕

And a big thank you to Veolia for inviting Reinvntd to be part of this brilliant programme!

We’re launching ‘Sew Club’ - a monthly virtual hand-sewing group where you can slow down, learn a new skill, and make something by hand from the comfort of your home 🥰

✅ Beginner friendly
✅ Step-by-step tutorials
✅ Monthly projects
✅ No sewing machine required
✅ All materials posted out to you
✅ Weekday / Weekend sessions, AM & PM

This is a relaxed, supportive space to unwind, stitch, and sew alongside others. Whether you’ve never picked up a needle before or just want a mindful creative ritual.

Sew Club is run by Reinvntd CIC, a sustainable fashion education, Community Interest Company focused on creativity, skills-sharing, and reducing textile waste.

We’re launching ‘Sew Club’ - a monthly virtual hand-sewing group where you can slow down, learn a new skill, and make something by hand from the comfort of your home 🥰

This is a relaxed, supportive space to unwind, stitch, and sew alongside others. Whether you’ve never picked up a needle before or just want a mindful creative ritual.

Sew Club is run by Reinvntd CIC, a sustainable fashion education, Community Interest Company focused on creativity, skills-sharing, and reducing textile waste.

Artist @thegabrielleguy captured the stories of what home means to participants through photography and mini interviews 📸

Our next free workshops will explore the themes ‘journey’ and ‘community’, and what this means for locals in the Black Country. Again we’ll use sewing, embroidery, threads and fabrics to tell those stories. 🤩

Last year at @wolverhamptonartscentre, families stepped back in time for ‘Our Freedom Then and Now’ event 🕊️

With wartime music, dancing, exploring history through VR and artefacts from 80 years ago, the past came to life.
Among it all, we explored the powerful wartime idea of Make Do & Mend 🧵✂️🪡

When clothes were precious, people repaired, reused, and wasted nothing.

Through our workshop, children and families used old fabrics to create new patches, turning something unwanted into something special.✨

Today, we call this upcycling ♻️ Eighty years on, the Make Do & Mend spirit still matters.🤩

🤝 117 volunteer hours supporting our community
